Seller Guidelines for Battle of the BEST: 

Battle of the BEST is your chance to spotlight one incredible auction and let everyone see what you’re all about on Whatnot! Choose a standout item or bundle that represents what you normally sell, your style and expertise. This is not just about selling—it's your moment to gain exposure, attract new followers, and make a lasting impression. Make sure to promote your upcoming shows so new fans can bookmark and participate in your future auctions! 

If you’re interested in testing a new category, we recommend testing out a few shows in that category first before bringing a “new-to-you” category item or bundle to the Battle. 

1. Select Your Ultimate BEST Item or Bundle:

• Choose and preload ONE exceptional Best-of-the-BEST item (or bundle) for auction, with bidding starting at just $1.  CAUTION: Do NOT edit your listing once pre-bids have been made or you will LOSE your pre-bids!! 

• IMPORTANT:  Please have your auction pre-loaded into your store as soon  as possible.  

• Auctions MUST be pre-loaded by Sunday, November 17th in time for our Battle of the BEST Preview Party on Wednesday, November 20th w/ @omgyg! 

• What you bring to the battle is entirely up to you, but ensure it's truly the BEST! Please no items with call outs for a better buyer experience! 

• NEW! No add-ons during the live show, if you wish to run a progressive auction you must have that pre-loaded and clearly stated.  If you add-on during the live show, you will be disqualified from winning Battle of the BEST. 

• NEW! Definition of an auction is 2 or more people bidding on an item.  If your item is bid-up by the same bidder increasing their own bid, you will be ineligible to win Battle of the BEST.     

• Please no choice/pick-one's as the winner may pre-bid and not be available to say which choice they want. You must choose what you'd like to present.  If you need help, consider adding your choices to social media to ask for input, or ask chat during other live shows! If you choose to run a choice/pick-one, you will be disqualified from winning Battle of the BEST.  

• All other items should be loaded into your Buy Now.

• NEW! If you have additional time, you may accept offers on items from your Buy Now and run them auction style AFTER you run your Battle Auction.  

2. Lock in Your Slot:

• (All times on the sign-up sheet are in EST)

• Each seller may register for only ONE slot. 

• Sign up for your 10-minute time slot! CLICK HERE TO SIGN UP If the sign-up is FULL, scroll to the bottom of this page and join the waitlist!

• Make sure to schedule your show on Whatnot with the correct time, based on your time zone (All times on the sign-up sheet are in EST)

EST (Eastern Standard Time)

CST (Central Standard Time) = Subtract 1 Hour

MST (Mountain Standard Time) = Subtract 2 Hours

PST (Pacific Standard Time) Subtract 3 Hours

• Show Title: Battle of the BEST   (Please copy/paste to avoid typos!)

• Thumbnail: Save the thumbnail on this page and upload to Whatnot! 

• Moderators: @omgyg, @fancycatvintage, @melzz4 and/or your choice!

3. Prepare for the Battle and Your Spotlight:

• Preload your auction. Include a square 1:1 ratio photo, a creative title, and a fun or engaging story about why it's the BEST or why you chose it for the battle!  Note: Historically, items that are showcased with a fun or engaging story bring higher bids, so be CREATIVE and share your story when you go live! 

• Preload other items into the Buy Now section and include a few lower cost items that can be gifted to the chat

• Preload at least one giveaway

• Now until the Battle, make sure to PROMOTE your BEST auction listing during other shows and on social media (IG, Facebook Collector/Interest Groups, TikTok, YouTube, etc) to gather pre-bids, and generate excitement around your selection!

4. On the Day of the Event:

• Be prepared to monitor the train at least 1-2 sellers ahead of your slot. Due to unforeseen tech glitches or cancellations, you might need to jump in earlier. 

• Start your show no more than three to five minutes before your spot. NO MORE THAN 5 MINUTES!

• PIN your Battle Item to the front screen as soon as you go Live!

• When the raid comes, start your giveaway and let it run for the FULL FIVE Minutes!  During this time, introduce yourself, promote future shows, ask viewers to follow and bookmark, and showcase Buy Now items before running your BEST auction!  If you find you've run out of things to say, consider promoting a friend or another non-same day event! 

• Once the giveaway winner is drawn, reveal and auction off your Battle item making sure to share the story about your item, if you have one. 

• We recommend running the auction for one or two full minutes to accommodate participants with pre-bids or reminder bells.

• IMPORTANT: Please be Kind, Raid on Time! Failure to raid on time may prevent you from participating in future events! 

5. Self-Promotion Etiquette:

• DO promote your future shows and encourage viewers to follow & bookmark!

• Do NOT promote same-day shows that overlap with the train event, as it may divert viewers from the train and negatively impact fellow sellers.  

• Events like these rely on teamwork, and all sellers deeply appreciate your support. If you're benefiting from this event, kindly consider avoiding simultaneous streaming to support your fellow sellers. Your consideration and support fosters a stronger community!

6. Finale

• Join @omgyg, @fancycatvintage, @unicornpoopcookies and @melzz4 at the conclusion of the battle when we will announce and interview the winner of the Battle of the BEST! 

• The seller with the highest bid takes home the coveted title of "Best in Show", will receive a one-of-a-kind 'W" Disco Ball Trophy and secures an exclusive invitation to the Battle of the Bestest Grand Finale in December 2024!

• In case of a tie, a tiebreaker plan is in place.

• Once you win Battle the BEST, you will only be allowed to participate as a competitor in the End of Year Battle of the BESTEST Grand Finale On December 29, 2024 however we would love for you to join us each month for a 10 minute WINNER Spotlight!  

• If you found value in this event, your support would be greatly appreciated.  Please consider leaving a voluntary tip of $1 or more during the kick-off and/or finale.  Your generosity helps sustain and enhance future events!
